Our range of Wool Felts is a fabric that is made using natural fibers without employing any bonding elements. NEUTRAL Felts has been a major breakthrough achieved by in-house R & D initiatives of SHIV Felt Industry in their quest for bench marking all their products with the most advanced felt products available in the U.S. and German Felt markets. Historically the process of neutralizing felts with fresh water washing/squeezing leaves acid traces in the felts which do not guarantee a 100% neutral product. This exposes the risk of traces of acid in the felts coming in contact with vulnerable Human Skin, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, softer metals, etc. To eliminate this risk, SHIV Felt Industry has developed NEUTRAL Felts which guarantee neutrality of the felt product manufactured by them.

Felt A Human Friend:

• Woolen Felt has been used in the ancient times by mankind right from the its most elementary form of ‘batts’ used as protective sheeting for humans. Further, as their cattle to the modern day, highly specified custom developed products to meet the most sophisticated requirements of human beings. Irrespective of the fact that wool is the most costly natural fiber known to mankind, it is very commonly used in felt-making because of its inherent technical advantages like capillarity, absorption, compactness, resilience and stable & inert nature. These merits offset the cost of wool. Owing to this factor, wool is typically known as ‘technical textile’. Furthermore, a wool felt that is developed with proper specifications can work wonders for the user industry. It is also a product that is bio-degradable, non-toxic and eco-friendly. The finished product can be easily cut, sawed, bored, punched, skived, split, sheared and turned on a lathe to enable the creation of customized cut components according to the clients given specifications.

SAE F-1

• A high grade, high density felt recommended for precision uses where maximum durability and resistance to wear are required. Typical uses are: Bearing seals, ink rolls, Polishing pads, Bumpers, Low Viscosity oil retention and feeding as in lubrication wicking, Wiping applications in sheet metal, tube and wire manufacturing.

SAE F-2 & SAE F-3

• High grade felts of slightly less density and durability than SAE F-1, but still recommended for precision uses such as: Vibration mounts, Precision lubrication wicking, Oil seals, Bumpers, Gaskets, Automobile, Aircraft, and Machinery Components.

SAE F-5

• A high grade, medium density felt recommended for precision uses where resiliency and durability are important factors. Typical uses are: Lubrication wicks, Grease seals, Wipers, Shock dampers, and Dust seals.

SAE F-6 & SAE F-7

• Medium density felts similar to SAE F-5 and recommended for similar applications, but where slightly less durable material is permissible. These felts are commonly used for: Grease retainers, Spacer strip seals, Weather stripping, Dust shields, and noise reduction linings.
